What is Dysport?

Muscles that make repeated facial expressions are responsible for unwanted wrinkles, such as frown lines and crow’s feet. Dysport is a treatment similar to BOTOX that helps smooth wrinkles and lines on the face by treating these muscles. Dysport is injected into specific, wrinkle-causing muscles to temporarily relax them. As the muscles relax, the appearance of wrinkles is reduced markedly.

The result is a more refreshed and youthful look--no incisions required. Dysport tends to diffuse more readily into muscles than BOTOX does, creating a natural and movement-friendly effect. This distinction, along with its slightly lower cost, makes Dysport a preferred choice for some patients, especially for areas like crow's feet.

The Benefits of Dysport

This innovative treatment offers a range of benefits that can enhance your appearance and boost your confidence. The advantages of Dysport include the following:

  • Smoother skin.
  • Diminished appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
  • Quick and convenient procedure.
  • Natural and subtle results.
  • Minimal to no downtime.
  • Effective treatment for various areas of the face.
  • Boosted self-esteem and restored youthful glow.

Is Dysport Right for You?

Dysport is an excellent option for individuals who are seeking a non-surgical solution to address wrinkles and fine lines caused by muscle movement. If you are bothered by the appearance of frown lines, crow's feet, or other dynamic wrinkles on your face, Dysport could be the right choice for you. Ideal candidates are typically adults who are in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the outcomes of the treatment. Consulting with Dr. Sunder can help determine if Dysport is a suitable option based on your individual concerns and goals.

The Dysport Process What to Expect

Your journey begins with a consultation.

During this initial visit, you will have the opportunity to discuss your specific concerns, desired outcomes, and medical history with Dr. Sunder.

Dr. Sunder will understand your aesthetic concerns, then carefully evaluate your facial features and develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

On the day of the procedure, small injections of Dysport will be administered into the targeted muscle areas using a very fine needle. The treatment is relatively quick and minimally uncomfortable, with many patients describing only mild sensations during the injections. Thanks to Dr. Sunder's expertise, you can expect a gentle and precise application.

After the injections, you can resume your daily activities with minimal downtime. Some patients may experience slight redness or swelling at the injection sites, but these effects are usually temporary and resolve quickly. Visible results from Dysport treatment may become apparent as early as 3 days after the injections, with the full effects becoming noticeable around 10 days.

Dysport Aftercare

Following Dysport treatment, the recovery process is generally straightforward and doesn't require extensive downtime. Most patients are able to resume their regular activities immediately after the procedure. However, there are a few things to keep in mind for optimal healing and results:

  • It's recommended to avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for at least a few hours after the injections. This helps prevent the dispersion of Dysport to unintended areas.
  • It's normal to experience some mild redness, swelling, or pinpoint bruising at the injection sites. These effects are usually temporary and should subside within a few hours to a day.
  • While you can return to most activities immediately, it's advisable to avoid intense exercise and activities that could increase blood flow to the face for the first 24 hours post-treatment. We recommend not lying down for four hours after injection.
  • Dysport typically takes a few days to begin showing noticeable effects. By around ten days after the procedure, you should see the full results, with your skin appearing smoother and rejuvenated.
  • The effects of Dysport can last anywhere from three to six months, depending on factors such as your metabolism and the treatment area. Regular maintenance treatments can help prolong the results.

Keep in mind that individual experiences can vary, and Dr. Sunder will provide personalized aftercare instructions based on your specific situation. If you have any questions or experience any unusual symptoms, it's recommended to reach out to the practice for guidance. Follow-up appointments may be scheduled to ensure you’re satisfied with the outcome and address any concerns.
