Ultherapy® or commonly known as Ulthera is a relatively new device that uses ultrasound technology to tighten and lift the tissues of the face and neck.

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy® is perfect for individuals who have started noticing that their brows are lower than they were a few years ago and those who have started to see some mild to moderate sagging of the skin of the neck. While using the Ulthera device, Dr. Sarmela Sunder is able to visualize the different tissue layers. Sound waves and thermal energy are then directed into the appropriate layer. The gentle heating causes your body to create new collagen in this area, leading to visible lifting, toning and tightening. We are also using Ultherapy® to tighten areas around the eyes and to address the fine lines around the lips. It is by no means an alternative to surgery, but it is the best non-invasive tool that we have that will give us great results without the downtime required for surgery. It is perfect for the individual who is not yet ready for surgery, and may in fact, help you postpone the need for surgery.

How does Ultherapy work?

The beauty of Ultherapy® is that it is a 30 to 60 minute procedure that uses the body’s own healing response to gently and gradually restore memory to the skin and its underlying tissue. Ultherapy® requires no special preparation and involves no downtime. Patients typically require only one treatment to get a response. Patients enjoy some initial effects immediately following the procedure, but the ultimate lifting will take place over 2-3 months, as existing collagen is rejuvenated and revitalized with new, stronger collagen.

Is Ultherapy right for me?

Unlike most lasers, Ulthera-focused energy targets an area deep into the skin, so patients of any skin type and skin color can benefit from it. Ultherapy® is the only FDA approved device to non-invasively lift tissues of the face. If you are looking to lift your brow or tighten the loose skin of your neck, but aren’t ready for surgery, this treatment might be right for you. Please schedule a consultation with Dr. Sarmela Sunder to find out if Ultherapy® Amplify might be a good treatment option for you.
