Hair Transplant NeoGraft TM
To many, a full head of hair represents attractiveness and desirability both personally and professionally. The facts are that approximately 50 million men and approximately 30 million women suffer from male/female pattern baldness or thinning hair. A hair restoration procedure gives the patient back their hair after such hair loss.
Why would someone need a hair restoration/hair transplant?
A hair restoration procedure (also known as a hair transplant procedure) allows someone to have hair in an area of the body where they no longer (or never did) grow hair. Possible reasons someone might want this include:
- Patients who are experiencing balding or thinning hair
- Someone who wants eyebrow restoration so they don’t have to use makeup to shape their eyebrows everyday.
- Someone who wants to achieve a certain aesthetic of facial hair they genetically didn’t acquire.
How does a NeoGraft hair transplant work?
NeoGraft® introduces the “state-of-the-art” solution for hair loss. It is an automated hair transplant system that uses game-changing technology which facilitates the harvesting of hair follicles during a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). This method gives patients more natural looking results with minimal downtime, no linear scaring and no stitches. This is a great hair transplant option for people who would like the option of wearing a very short haircut in the back or sides of their scalp.
- Top 10 Reasons Why NeoGraft® is the Solution:
- It is the least invasive procedure for hair transplantation
- Patients who receive NeoGraft® feel little to no discomfort
- No stitches or staples are used in the NeoGraft® procedure
- No unsightly linear scar
- No numbness where the donor hair is harvested
- Quick recovery time
- Natural looking results
- Less restrictions on your normal daily activities
- Patients can typically go back to work within a couple of days
- Flexibility for any hair style of your choice, short or long
How long does it take?
Depending on the extent of the hair restoration that is required, the procedure can take several hours. We usually ask patients to set aside the entire day to be in the office for the procedure.
How long do the results last?
Each patient’s results will vary. If you suffer from hair loss (particularly if your balding pattern continues with age), hair loss does not stop after transplantation. Some people will need continued maintenance and further sessions may likely be required. Progressive hair loss or the desire for more density may require more transplants. An estimate of balding pattern and the number of procedures needed will be discussed during the consultation.
Does it leave scars?
Hair restoration through Follicular Unit Extraction does not leave a linear scar. The harvest site usually heals so well that it is not noticeable at normal conversation distances.
Is FUE/NeoGraft suitable for both men and women?
Yes. Because FUE/NeoGraft is a minimally-invasive procedure, it is a viable option for both men and women looking to restore their own living and growing hair with transplantation.
Do I have to get a total ‘buzz cut’ to have an FUE/NeoGraft procedure?
No, not if your wear your hair long. If your donor hair is long enough, harvesting using the FUE/NeoGraft can be done by shaving small areas which can be covered by your other, existing hair. If you wear your hair short, it helps to shave it close for maximum yield. It looks more natural sooner as the transplanted grafts are short as well.
How soon will I see the results?
The science behind grafting is simple. Hair follicles are taken from the hair in the back of the head that naturally continues to grow. The follicles that hold your transplanted hair are living tissues that grow cyclically. Once the normal hair follicle has been implanted into the balding area, the grafted hair will stay in place for about two to three weeks before shedding – this is normal and an important part of the new growth process. After shedding, the new growth will begin in 3-4 months and your hair will continue to grow normally. More importantly, your results will look healthy and natural.
Is it painful?
We thoroughly numb the area to be harvested and transplanted using local anesthesia. We also offer oral pain medication and an oral sedative to patients who have no contraindications. Most patients find the procedure to be quite comfortable, with many patients falling asleep through portions of the procedure.
What is the downtime after a hair transplant?
Downtime will vary upon the area that is treated. An eyebrow will take longer because it is a hard place to conceal from swelling/bruising and from looking “normal” for up to two weeks. Otherwise, when treating the scalp, downtime is about 5 to 7 days, patients can go back to work as early as 2 days post procedure but not allowed to exercise for 2 weeks.
What should I expect after a hair transplant?
After 48 Hours Post-Op: The donor site should now be closed up and healing. Your physician may suggest removing the bandage at this time.
72 Hours Post-Op: Swelling is a part of the healing process and typically occurs on day 2 or 3 post-op. It usually disappears in 5-7 days.
