Mini Lift

Often times my patients feel that they are just starting to see the first signs of an aging face, the beginning of jowls or the start of some droopy skin along the jaw line. They are ready to address this issue in a definitive manner but do not feel that they are ready to undergo a full facelift or neck lift. A Mini Lift is the perfect option for these individuals, who want a less invasive option, with shorter downtime.

What is a Mini Lift?

A Mini Lift, which is a Mini Facelift, is sometimes called a Weekend Lift, S-Lift, Lunchtime Lift or Quick Lift. It is a less invasive surgical option for addressing the sagging skin of the lower third of the face, commonly referred to as the jowls. By using small incisions around the ear, the Mini Lift can tighten as well as lift the tissues of the jawline and lower face. It can be performed under local anesthetic with some sedation, without the need for general anesthesia. Some patients choose to be completely awake for this procedure, while others opt for light sedation. Even though it is a less invasive surgical procedure, the results last up to several years.

What is the difference between a Mini Lift and a standard lower facelift?

While both the Mini Lift and the standard lower facelift address the jowls and lower face, the standard lower facelift is more appropriate for individuals who have more extensive tissue laxity, those who have loose skin on the neck. The Mini Lift is considered a less invasive alternative to the standard lower facelift. The SLF is a surgical procedure that typically requires a 2 week downtime, while the Mini Lift usually requires a 7-10 day recovery period. The Mini Lift procedure can usually be performed under local anesthesia with some sedation. Because it is a more involved surgery, the SLF, on the other hand, is usually performed under deeper levels of anesthesia, such as either general anesthesia, MAC anesthesia or twilight anesthesia. Finally because it is a less involved procedure, the Mini Lift is usually a more affordable option for patients.

Who is a candidate for a Mini Lift?

The ideal candidate for a Mini Lift is a man or woman who is in good health, who is bothered by the sagging skin of the lower face and neck and would like a rejuvenated appearance. Typical patients are in their early 40s to mid-50s, but can be outside of this age range if they have minimally loose skin of the face.
